TMC Symbols

Hello,

I have a 2003 Laguna with full colour screen CNI 1. I have the Nav5 v4.61 software and the latest '09/'10 Navteq mapping disc for UK and Ireland with iTMC. However, not all the messages picked up by the TMC receiver are being shown on the map. I get the major problems displayed such as accidents, stationary traffic, road closed etc... but do not get items such as narrow lanes, lanes closed, snow on road, reduced visibility etc.. shown on the map. Does anyone know if this is just a system restriction or is there something I can set to get these messages displayed

Hello,

It seems to me that in the set up (but I don't remember exactly where), you have a menu in which you have to cross the informations that you want to appear on the screen (fog, strong wind...).
All theese news are recieved by your system from a company who sends the informations that it knows. So it also depends of theese companies and of the quality of their informations.

Many Thanks for your reply ProV1. I've checked Traffic Messages on the system and all were checked. It is interesting that only the following messages are shown in the list. Stationary Traffic, Queueing Traffic, Slow Traffic, Roadworks, Accidents, No Parking Possible, Slippery Road, Heavy Wind, Delay, Severe Weather & Bad Visibility. The manual seems to indicate that more messages are available including Lane Restrictions, Defective Traffic Signal etc.. with associated symbols but with seemingly no way to select these on the system. It would therefore appear, according to the manual,that there is a symbol for all the messages that I mentioned in my first post but for some reason they are still not being displayed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have my Laguna with Carminat for 6 years and I find that it works quiete well with current informations like slow traffic, accident, road closed but I've also never seen some items (the same than yours : snow on road, reduced visibility, ...)
I think that it isn't a problem with Carminat, but only that the informations are not sended to the system by the informations companies.

Many thanks again for your reply PROV1 . It looks like you may be right about the TMC provider not sending the correct info for the carminat system to pick up on . I cannot find any other settings in the menus to change. TMC here in the UK is provided by ITIS. I wonder if different countries with different TMC providers may be different (e.g France)? Has anyone else ever seen the elusive Lane restrictions/Severe Weather etc.. symbols on their system?
